Volleyball Recap: Newport Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Newport Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Beechwood Tigers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-14.

Isabella Schaber paced Newport Central Catholic's offense, picking up four kills. Schaber got some help from Charlotte Stevie and her six assists. Kolbey Kohrs controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Newport Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Beechwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Newport Central Catholic will head out on the road to square off against Campbell County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beechwood, they will take on Cooper at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
