Basketball Game Preview: Central Bobcats vs. Chaparral Firebirds

The Central Bobcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Chaparral Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 matchups -- so hopefully Chaparral likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Central took their game with ease, bagging a 70-42 victory over North. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Chaparral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 71-65 heartbreaker at the hands of Desert Mountain.

Central pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.3 points per game. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Chaparral in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 70-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
