Preview: Boulder Panthers vs. Horizon Hawks
The Boulder Panthers will take on the Horizon Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Boulder gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past Greeley West 88-49 at home. With Boulder ahead 47-25 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Boulder's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Stein, who scored 27 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Kyle Blauch was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Horizon at home against Thompson Valley on Friday as the team secured a 77-39 win.
Horizon found their leader in underclassman Boaz Wisne, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Greene, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds.
Boulder's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Horizon, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Boulder and Horizon were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but Boulder came up empty-handed after a 44-43 loss. Can Boulder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
