Basketball Recap: Shyann Spaulding's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Buffalo over Decatur

If New Buffalo was feeling good fresh off their 45-6 takedown of Eau Claire last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The New Buffalo Bison fell to the Decatur Raiders 42-38. The Bison lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 51-13 score last time.

Several Bison players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shyann Spaulding, who on her way to 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Addison Lynch, who posted eight points and three steals.

New Buffalo has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. Decatur's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Buffalo will host Mendon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Decatur, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marcellus at 6:00 p.m.
