Softball Recap: Trabuco Hills Takes a Loss

Trabuco Hills extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-14 in the process. They fell 9-6 to the Beckman Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 on April 1st.

As for Beckman, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

For Beckman's part, Jess Peralta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Morales, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Park, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Looking ahead, Trabuco Hills will challenge University at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Beckman, they will face off against San Clemente at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 2.9, the Tritons 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
