Softball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Majors vs. Annandale Atoms

Mount Vernon is 2-8 against Annandale since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. Mount Vernon has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mount Vernon came up short against Hayfield last Thursday, falling 20-6. The Majors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alannah Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Aarti Nachnani, who earned one RBI and two runs.

Meanwhile, Annandale was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 18-5 to Edison.

Mount Vernon now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Annandale, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Mount Vernon couldn't quite finish off Annandale in their previous meeting back in March and fell 11-9. Can the Majors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
