Baseball Game Preview: Lindbergh Flyers vs. Hazelwood West Wildcats

The Lindbergh Flyers will face off against the Hazelwood West Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lindbergh will be strutting in after a victory while Hazelwood West will be coming in after a loss.

Lindbergh's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Lutheran 16-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flyers.

Jon Calcaterra made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Calcaterra was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on CJ Luczak, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Luke Fisher was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Lindbergh lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Hazelwood West has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.5 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 11-1 to Oakville. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hazelwood West dropped their record down to 3-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lindbergh, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Everything went Lindbergh's way against Hazelwood West in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Lindbergh made off with a 23-10 victory. Does Lindbergh have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hazelwood West turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
