Preview: Comenius Knights vs. Walnut Grove Christian Christian Warriors
Comenius is 10-0 against Walnut Grove Christian since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Comenius Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Walnut Grove Christian Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Comenius and seven for Walnut Grove Christian.
Comenius pushed their score all the way to 68 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of New Hope Leadership Academy by a score of 70-68.
Meanwhile, Walnut Grove Christian was the victim of a tough 66-46 loss at the hands of Lee Park Prep on Thursday. Walnut Grove Christian was down 54-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Adam Smith, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Heitzmann, who scored 11 points.
Comenius has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Walnut Grove Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
Everything came up roses for Comenius against Walnut Grove Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 86-26 victory. With Comenius ahead 46-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
