Volleyball Recap: Artesia Wins High-Profile Match Against Portales

Artesia faced Portales in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Rams by a score of 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

While Artesia might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Portales scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19.

Kailee Padilla paced Artesia's offense, picking up 22 kills. Padilla got some help from Kirklyn Miller and her 47 assists. Brooklynne Ivans controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Artesia's record is now 15-3. As for Portales, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Artesia is set to face off against their familiar foe Goddard at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Portales will square off against rival Lovington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
