Upsala hadn't done well against Bertha-Hewitt recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cardinals walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bears. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Bears back in September, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Upsala never let Bertha-Hewitt on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-23.

Zoey Leners paced Upsala's offense, picking up 11 kills. Leners got some help from Sierra Bense and her 11 assists. Finally, Leners was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Upsala's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Bertha-Hewitt, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Upsala and Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bertha-Hewitt, they have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Osakis on the 16th.
