Baseball Game Preview: Palmyra Panthers vs. Mendon Unity Mustangs

The Palmyra Panthers will challenge the Mendon Unity Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It was a proper cat-fight when Palmyra took on Macon on Tuesday. The Panthers came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-4.

Palmyra saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryant Horstmeier, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The Panthers are 2-1 when Horstmeier posts three or more hits, but 1-5 otherwise. Colby Jones was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mendon Unity didn't have quite enough to beat Camp Point Central on Friday and fell 5-4.

Skylor Goudschaal was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Simon Rabe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Palmyra's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-6. As for Mendon Unity, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
