Calvary Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Mills, who posted eight points and 19 boards, and Bethany Suttles, who scored eight points and five steals. That's the most steals Suttles has posted since back in December of 2023.
Even though they lost, Calvary Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 25 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Blair County Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Clearfield Alliance Christian on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 35-29 win. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Clearfield Alliance Christian are ranked 635th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calvary Christian Academy better keep an eye on Gabi Dull. She was instrumental in Blair County Christian's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Dull has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Jena Kane was another key player, putting up eight points.
Blair County Christian pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.7 points per game. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Calvary Christian Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Blair County Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
