Woodmont is 0-10 against Hillcrest since November of 2014 but things could change on Saturday. Woodmont took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They secured a 34-28 W over Mauldin. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Ezekiel Belcher continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 222 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 118 rushing yards dating back to last season. Tj Williams was another key rusher, rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: Woodmont was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 410 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 172 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest got the win against Greenville on Tuesday by a conclusive 38-14. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Woodmont's record is now 2-5. As for Hillcrest, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
