Baseball Recap: Clinton Takes a Loss

Clinton's last matchup with Monticello could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Wednesday. The Maroons lost 12-1 to the Sages. If the Maroons were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Sages when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Clinton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Walker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Clinton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season. As for Monticello, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will host St. Teresa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Monticello, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Champaign Central at 4:30 p.m. The Maroons will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Sages surely won't give up without a fight.
