Basketball Game Preview: South Wake Sabres vs. Summit Christian Academy Eagles

After both having extra time off, the South Wake Sabres and the Summit Christian Academy Eagles will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

South Wake is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Chatham HomeSchool just ended the team's eight-game winning streak last Friday. They came up short against the Thunder, falling 72-52.

Despite their defeat, South Wake saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Noah Wright, who posted 15 points and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Cannon Cooper, who went 5-for-11 en route to 14 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Summit Christian Academy took on Grove Christian School two weeks ago. Summit Christian Academy took a blow against Grove Christian School, falling 77-40.

Like Summit Christian Academy, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Courtland Reiter led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Chase Miller was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Summit Christian Academy now has a losing record of 12-13. As for South Wake, their loss dropped their record down to 23-9.

Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: South Wake has made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 9.8 three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Summit Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 threes. Given South Wake's sizable advantage in that area, Summit Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
