Basketball Game Preview: Drummond Bulldogs vs. Waukomis Chiefs

Drummond and Waukomis are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Drummond Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Waukomis Chiefs at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Drummond has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 194 points over their last three matches.

Last Friday, Drummond didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Kremlin-Hillsdale, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Broncs are ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Waukomis hadn't done well against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Waukomis claimed a resounding 67-38 win over Pioneer-Pleasant Vale. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Drummond's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Waukomis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Everything came up roses for Drummond against Waukomis in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Drummond since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
