AAA District 12 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Cane Ridge extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 12 this week by beating Glencliff, 39-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Overton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,903 from 4,380. The improvement was the result of 20-14 victory over Hillwood last week.
McGavock's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Deanthony Patrick threw for 47 and two touchdowns and Cody Jackson had 15 yards receiving. On the ground Jackson chipped in 122 yards. Bryson Wilkins helped McGavock's passing attack out by catching one ball for 12 yards.
Tracey Bowler made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Raiders topped Hunters Lane. The 5-foot-11 senior forced two fumbles.
McGavock's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Patrick has thrown for 650 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Chris Claybrooks has 13 catches for 203 yards. Patrick also leads the league in rushing with 486 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when McGavock takes on the Bobcats. As it stands, Julius (Jay) Gore's team is in fifth, while Overton is in third.
The Raiders led AAA District 12 in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on the Warriors. Patrick ran for 56 yards in the win.
