Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glenbard West). They never let the Proviso West Panthers get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Hilltoppers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Ellie Adduci was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Glenbard West got a massive performance out of Cece Atkinson, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Atkinson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Megan Stieglitz, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Glenbard West's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Proviso West, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
Looking ahead, Glenbard West will head out on the road to square off against Glenbard East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hilltoppers 3.8, the Rams 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Proviso West, they will be playing at home against Lyons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
