Softball Recap: Middleton Beats Skyview for Their Third Straight Win

Middleton won the last time they faced Skyview and things went their way on Thursday too. The Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks, sneaking past 8-7. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by just one run.

Libby Garcia looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Middleton let Kenadi Whitlow and Sadie Stafford run wild. Whitlow went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Stafford went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Stafford has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Pohl, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win was the third in a row for Middleton, bringing their record up to 12-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Skyview, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middleton will take on Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Skyview, they will face off against Columbia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.5 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
