Football Game Preview: Piedmont Panthers vs. Charlotte Catholic Cougars + How To Watch

Piedmont is 0-3 against Charlotte Catholic since October of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Piedmont has given up an average of 29.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Piedmont's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Weddington on Friday. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of the Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Warriors are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Charlotte Catholic didn't have too much trouble with Cuthbertson on Friday as they won 28-14. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won five in a row.

Charlotte Catholic's win came from a few key players Piedmont will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Garrett Nowlan, who rushed for 51 yards and one score, and also picked up 44 receiving yards and one touchdown. Charlotte Catholic also got a significant boost from Max Whalen, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 103 yards.

Piedmont's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Charlotte Catholic, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Piedmont took a serious blow against Charlotte Catholic in their previous matchup back in October of 2019, falling 49-0. Thankfully for the Panthers, Paul Neel (who rushed for 103 yards and three TDs on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
