Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Cristo Rey Panthers vs. Minuteman Regional Minuteman

Notre Dame Cristo Rey is 2-8 against Minuteman Regional since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Notre Dame Cristo Rey Panthers will square off against the Minuteman Regional Minuteman at 5:30 p.m. Notre Dame Cristo Rey knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Minuteman Regional likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Notre Dame Cristo Rey didn't have too much trouble with Academy of Notre Dame as they won 72-56. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Lancers are ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Notre Dame Cristo Rey's success was spearheaded by the efforts of S Garcia, who posted 20 points, and D Osuna, who scored 16 points. Garcia's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Y Garcia, who earned ten points.

Meanwhile, Minuteman Regional beat Nashoba Valley Tech 65-54 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Minuteman.

Notre Dame Cristo Rey's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Minuteman Regional, they are also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Notre Dame Cristo Rey beat Minuteman Regional 63-52 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Notre Dame Cristo Rey since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
