Baseball Recap: Trinity Triumphs

The Trinity Raiders were able to grind out a solid win over the Fort Knox Eagles on Friday, taking the game 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Grant Howard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Trinity is 3-1 when Howard posts two or more runs, but 4-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Trinity let Rylan Cecil and Cale Boarman run wild. Cecil went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Boarman got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Boarman has become a key player for Trinity: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaac Hernandez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Trinity's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Fort Knox, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity will head out to challenge Hopkins County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fort Knox, they will venture away from home to square off against Bardstown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
