Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Douglas County Huskies
The Chaparral Wolverines waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 41-35 W over Douglas County. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Douglas County is ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Chaparral to victory were Lauren Thompson and Reagan Lentell. Thompson scored 12 points along with six rebounds, while Lentell dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Lentell hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Monroe, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Chaparral is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Douglas County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.
Chaparral will be playing in front of their home fans against Legend at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Legend focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Douglas County, they will head out on the road to challenge Castle View at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
