Los Osos hasn't had much luck against Etiwanda recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Grizzlies are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 3:15 p.m.
Los Osos is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Upland on Friday. They came up short against the Highlanders/Scots, falling 11-2.
Los Osos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Chung, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.
Etiwanda came out on top against Upland on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Eagles blew past the Highlanders/Scots 14-7. Considering the Eagles have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alyssa Galindo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Dailynn Battee and Frankie Nevarez did most of the damage at the plate: Battee got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Nevarez got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most runs Battee has posted since back in February. Brianna Gutierrez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Etiwanda lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in four consecutive contests.
Los Osos' loss dropped their record down to 14-10-1. As for Etiwanda, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
Los Osos might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Etiwanda in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
