Football Recap: Archbishop Curley Falls to Concordia Prep in First Game of Season

Archbishop Curley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 14-7 to the Concordia Prep Saints on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Friars in their meetings with the Saints: they've now lost six in a row.

Even if they lost, Archbishop Curley's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Bailen Boutz. Archbishop Curley got some further help from Jackson Athas: he made six total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Curley will venture away from home to square off against Saint James at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Concordia Prep, they will head out to challenge Bishop McNamara at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
