Tyngsborough will face off against Littleton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Tyngsborough is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Tyngsborough is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Bedford, who was ranked 18th at the time (Tyngsborough was ranked 20th). The Tigers took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers on Friday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Littleton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. Everything went their way against Marlborough as they made off with a 16-9 win.
Jillian Palmer and Maeve Tule did most of the damage at the plate: Palmer went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Tule went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Palmer has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Caouette, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Littleton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Littleton pushed their record up to 9-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Tyngsborough, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4-1.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tyngsborough hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Littleton struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
