Basketball Recap: South Panola Comes Up Short

South Panola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 66-65 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grenada Chargers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (58), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Grenada was led to victory by Braylon Hardiman and Zayion Cotton. Hardiman posted 16 points, while Cotton earned 15 points. Antonio Scott was another key player, putting up ten points.

South Panola's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Grenada, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-16.

South Panola and Grenada could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. South Panola (ranked 171st) will meet Lake Cormorant (ranked 44th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Grenada will square off against Saltillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 142 places (190 vs. 48).
