Football Recap: Sawyer Mcmillin Leads Midview's Defense on Friday

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Midview can now relate to. They fell 20-15 to the Rocky River Pirates on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Middies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Pirates are ranked 109th).

When it comes to explaining why Midview lost, don't look at Marcus McMahon. Despite the final result, he rushed for 219 yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Midview's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Sawyer McMillin. He has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Brayden Homoki was another major factor on D, making 20 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Midview has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Rocky River, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Midview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rocky River, they will face off against Revere at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
