Basketball Recap: Raymond Central Takes a Loss

It looked like the Kentucky Derby when Raymond Central challenged Centennial on Saturday. The Raymond Central Mustangs fell just short of the Centennial Broncos by a score of 39-36. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Broncos are ranked 87th).

Centennial had a senior duo take command as Devin Slawnyk dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards and Camden Winkelman posted eight points and five rebounds. Slawnyk is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Richters, who had ten points.

Raymond Central's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Centennial, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raymond Central will head out to challenge David City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they are taking a road trip to take on Shelby-Rising City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
