Softball Game Preview: Mount St. Mary Academy Lions vs. J.P. Stevens Hawks

The Mount St. Mary Academy Lions will head out to face off against the J.P. Stevens Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. J.P. Stevens took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount St. Mary Academy, who comes in off a win.

Mount St. Mary Academy came out on top against Bound Brook on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Crusaders 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted against the Crusaders since May 11, 2017.

Meanwhile, J.P. Stevens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Woodbridge, falling 11-0.

Mount St. Mary Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for J.P. Stevens, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
