Basketball Recap: Tarpon Springs Comes Up Short

Tarpon Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes and fell 60-32. The Spongers lost against the Hurricanes in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 44-39 score last time.

Palm Harbor University found their leader in sophomore Grahm Pitcock, who posted 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Pitcock also set a new season-high mark in steals with four. Another player making a difference was Giordan Gainey, who put up 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Tarpon Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Palm Harbor University, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-9.

Tarpon Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 81-32 loss against Osceola on the 10th. As for Palm Harbor University, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-52 defeat against Gulf on the 9th.
