Soccer Game Preview: Pierce vs. Winters

Pierce is 1-8-1 against Winters since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bears will take on the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pierce is headed into the match having not lost since December 12 and will look to keep things rolling. They came out on top against Colusa by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Pierce's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Colusa are ranked 726th).

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Winters sidestepped Gridley for a 2-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Winters.

Alejandro Murillo was the driving force of Winters' attack as he scored both of Winters' goals, bringing his season total up to 13 goals.

Pierce's win bumped their record up to 10-1-2. As for Winters, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3-2.

Pierce skirted past Winters 2-1 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
