Basketball Recap: Chiles Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Chiles played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 76-51 to the Godby Cougars. The Timberwolves haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Chiles lost, don't look at Gabe Parks. Despite the final result, he shot 47% from the field to rack up 22 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The contest was Parks' fifth in a row with at least 19 points. Carson Ginn was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 15 points and seven boards.

Jaden Staten continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Godby, shooting 64% from beyond the arc en route to 29 points. Thanks to that strong game, Staten now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Kejuan Nealy, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Chiles now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Godby, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Chiles will take on Florida State University High School in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Parks and Calvin Laing Jr. Godby and Marianna will compete for holiday cheer at 12:45 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.11 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
