Baseball Game Preview: Cheney Tech Chargers vs. Vinal RVT Hawks

Cheney Tech is 9-1 against Vinal RVT since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Chargers will welcome the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. Cheney Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Cheney Tech's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over East Windsor. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Not much got past Spencer Johnson, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep East Windsor off the board. Johnson also tossed no walks, which is notable because Cheney Tech is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Vinal RVT lost 24-3 to Hale Ray on Saturday.

Andrew Tupay was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Adam Cross was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Cheney Tech's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Vinal RVT, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Cheney Tech beat Vinal RVT 7-2 when the teams last played back in April. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
