Baseball Game Preview: North Pontotoc Vikings vs. New Albany Bulldogs

For the second straight game, North Pontotoc will face off against New Albany. North Pontotoc will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Albany at 7:00 p.m. The last four games North Pontotoc has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

North Pontotoc got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past New Albany 4-3. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by just one run.

For New Albany's part, Parker Skinner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. What's more, Skinner gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, New Albany saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Ewing, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

New Albany's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-8. As for North Pontotoc, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
