Baseball Recap: Sacred Heart Finds Playoff Glory Versus West Bolivar

With a playoff win on the line, Sacred Heart rose to the challenge on Thursday. They never let the West Bolivar Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Crusaders have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyron Murphy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Gamber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Colter Garner, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Sacred Heart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

Sacred Heart has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Bolivar, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Sacred Heart will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
