Soccer Game Preview: Bessemer City vs. Burns

Bessemer City is 0-10 against Burns since August of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Yellow Jackets will square off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Bessemer City turned things around against Stuart W. Cramer on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 6-3 margin over the Storm. With Bessemer City ahead 3-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

They hit Stuart W. Cramer with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Yair Avila (3), Ricardo Hernandez (2), and Kameron Gomez.

Burns' found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Lincolnton on Wednesday. The Bulldogs never let Cherryville get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Burns in their matchups with Cherryville: they've now won six in a row.

Burns' win bumped their record up to 12-2-2. As for Bessemer City, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9-1.

Bessemer City couldn't quite get it done against Burns in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 2-0. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
