Basketball Game Preview: Nebraska Christian Eagles vs. Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers

The Nebraska Christian Eagles will challenge the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nebraska Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Nebraska Christian is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since January 14th on Thursday. They blew past Palmer 48-24. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newman Grove/St. Edward). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 win over Central Valley on Thursday. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Panthers were the better team in the second half.

Nebraska Christian better keep an eye on Kailey Patzel. She was instrumental in Newman Grove/St. Edward's win, dropping a double-double with 25 points and 24 boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which Patzel has scored at least a third of Newman Grove/St. Edward's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyx Forre, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

Newman Grove/St. Edward smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. They are 2-15 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Nebraska Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. As for Newman Grove/St. Edward, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-19.

Everything came up roses for Nebraska Christian against Newman Grove/St. Edward in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 61-20 victory.
