Softball Recap: Jasper Comes Up Short

Jasper extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 3-21. They lost 15-0 to the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in March.

As for Little Cypress-Mauriceville, they pushed their record up to 20-9 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.

For Little Cypress-Mauriceville's part, Tessa Erickson made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Erickson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Little Cypress-Mauriceville got a massive performance out of Halynn Trosclair, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Abby Sepulvado was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jasper will face off against rival West Orange-Stark at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Little Cypress-Mauriceville is set to challenge their familiar foe Bridge City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
