Softball Recap: Velva/Drake/Anamoose Falls Short Against Ranked Hillsboro/Central Valley

Velva/Drake/Anamoose faced Hillsboro/Central Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Aggies came up short against the H-CV Burros, falling 16-6. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Aggies, who until this game were averaging 3.11 runs allowed.

Emma Balas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Leah Volochenko was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Velva/Drake/Anamoose fell to 8-1. As for Hillsboro/Central Valley, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Coming up, Velva/Drake/Anamoose will head out to challenge Beulah at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hillsboro/Central Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Rugby at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
