Basketball Game Preview: Caprock Longhorns vs. Lubbock-Cooper Pirates

The Caprock Longhorns will venture away from home to face off against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Caprock is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Caprock is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 62-32 loss at the hands of Amarillo. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 826th, while the Sandies are ranked 35th).

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Lubbock-Cooper made off with a 60-59 victory over Plainview. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Lubbock-Cooper's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-10. As for Caprock, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Caprock couldn't quite finish off Lubbock-Cooper when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 68-65. Can Caprock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
