Football Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Takes a Loss

After flying high against Stone Mountain two weeks ago, St. Anne-Pacelli came back down to earth. The Vikings were beaten by the Whitefield Academy WolfPack 63-24 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the WolfPack are ranked 139th).

When it comes to explaining why St. Anne-Pacelli lost, don't look at Donovan 'DJ' Colvin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 202 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Colvin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Jason Davis, who picked up 156 receiving yards.

Mason Hollingsworth continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Whitefield Academy, rushing for 426 yards and four TDs while picking up 17.0 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown. Those 426 rushing yards gave Hollingsworth a new career-high. Landon Ryan was another key player, throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes.

St. Anne-Pacelli now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Whitefield Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

St. Anne-Pacelli has already played their next matchup, a 42-21 loss against Strong Rock Christian on the 26th. As for Whitefield Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 55-0 victory against Mount Paran Christian on the 26th.
