Basketball Game Preview: Rocksprings Angoras vs. D'Hanis Cowboys

The Rocksprings Angoras will head out on the road to challenge the D'Hanis Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocksprings has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Last Friday, Rocksprings took their match with ease, bagging an 87-53 win over Nueces Canyon. The Angoras pushed the score to 74-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Rocksprings got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hunter Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was Taylor's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dwayne Rivera, who went 11 for 16 on his way to 27 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Rocksprings smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for D'Hanis on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Medina out of the water with a 68-33 final score. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 23 points or more this season.

D'Hanis is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Rocksprings, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

Rocksprings was taken down by D'Hanis 79-47 when the teams last played back in January. Can Rocksprings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
