Basketball Game Preview: Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils vs. Westbrook Knights

Coginchaug Regional has gone a perfect 10-0 against Westbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Westbrook Knights at 6:00 p.m. Coginchaug Regional will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Last Friday, everything went Coginchaug Regional's way against Portland as Coginchaug Regional made off with a 64-41 victory. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Coginchaug Regional can attribute much of their success to Maddy Benbow, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and six steals, and Sophie Farr, who went 8 of 19 on her way to 17 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Farr is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Smolley, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Coginchaug Regional smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Westbrook slipped by Portland 36-35 on Monday.

Coginchaug Regional pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. As for Westbrook, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.

Coginchaug Regional strolled past Westbrook in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 56-39. Will Coginchaug Regional repeat their success, or does Westbrook have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
