Clinton won the last time they faced Maynard and things went their way on Friday too. The Gaels blew past the Tigers, posting a 49-6 win. With the Gaels ahead 35-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Clinton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Naughton, who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Naughton has posted since back in October of 2024. Taetum Cassella was another key rusher, rushing for 74 yards and one TD on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Clinton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jake McNamara and Connor Cox. Another thorn in Maynard's side was Delwin Ramos, who picked up a sack and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The win was the third in a row for Clinton, bringing their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for Maynard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will face off against Nipmuc Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gaels will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Maynard, they will square off against Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' defense has only allowed nine points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
