Preview: Lewis County Lions vs. Rowan County Vikings
Lewis County has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Rowan County Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Lewis County fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Russell last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Lewis County has suffered yet this season.
Meanwhile, even though Floyd Central scored an imposing 61 points last Saturday, Rowan County still came out on top. Rowan County took their match against Floyd Central 71-61.
Rowan County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dashawn Watson, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Mirus, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lewis County now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Rowan County, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Lewis County came up short against Rowan County when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 48-36. Can Lewis County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
