Basketball Recap: Antonio Rodriguez Key Part of Team Effort in Apaches Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Buena, Nogales was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They snuck past the Flowing Wells Caballeros with a 76-70 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 74-57 two weeks ago.

Nogales' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antonio Rodriguez, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten assists. That's the most points Rodriguez has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aaron Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds.

Flowing Wells lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Isaias Encinas, who put up 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Angel Murrieta was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Nogales' victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Flowing Wells, they dropped their record down to 3-20 with the loss, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Nogales has already played their next matchup, a 51-43 defeat against Pueblo on the 13th. As for Flowing Wells, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-44 win against Desert View on the 13th.
