Soccer Game Preview: Southwest Onslow vs. Roanoke Rapids

The Southwest Onslow Stallions will head out to take on the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southwest Onslow comes in on three and Roanoke Rapids on four.

Southwest Onslow is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Holmes 5-1. The result was nothing new for Southwest Onslow, who have now won ten matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Roanoke Rapids kept a clean sheet against Nash Central on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 1-0. Given Roanoke Rapids' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Nash Central are ranked 223rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roanoke Rapids' one-goal win came courtesy of Claire Walker, who's now up to ten this season.

Roanoke Rapids pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those ten contests. As for Southwest Onslow, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3-3.

Southwest Onslow came out on top in a nail-biter against Roanoke Rapids when the teams last played back in March of 2016, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Stallions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
