Baseball Recap: South Point Continues Road Dominance on Friday

South Point hadn't done well against Portsmouth recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pointers walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pointers.

The team relied heavily on Joey Lobaldo, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caesyn Pope, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

South Point's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Portsmouth, with the loss, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Point will venture away from home to face off against Gallia Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Portsmouth, they will head out to square off against Fairland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
