Baseball Recap: Dwyer Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dwyer had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Viera Hawks by a score of 6-3. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Hawks on Wednesday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Holt Flowers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Dwyer's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Kole Griffin was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Stephens, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Dwyer's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-11. As for Viera, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-10.

Dwyer will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
